THE GLASS ART OF RICHARD MORTENSEN (MORICA GLASSWORKS)

I have been cutting and breaking glass for 30 years, mostly as an occasional hobby and opportunity to explore the medium.  I became seriously interested in fusing glass ten years ago and first began showing my work in 2003.  Fusing glass is a multi-step process involving high temperatures, burnt fingers and lots of band-aids.  It's also a medium that allows me to explore a wide variety of color combinations to see how they interact when exposed to light.  My "studio" is in my garage so most evenings will find me cutting and breaking glass into various shapes and sizes for fusing and slumping in my kiln.
